Tracks is a photographic project on Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. It is a place where I worked in the 1970s. My father worked there for three decades, some of my brothers also worked there. In its heyday it had approximately 20,000 workers.
The Dockyard once had 30 miles of railway tracks, within it’s 3 mile by 1 mile area. There are now only about 3 miles left. It has gone into decline and it’s structure is deteriorating.
There are metaphors and symbolism, also predictive shots and social history woven into these images, with clashes in design, high-rises and the converging of ideas.
