I was born at 131 Union Place in 1949, and spent my first dozen years living in this area.
In 1970 I started to record this street photographically. It holds many memories for me as a child. The navies coming into port, the fights in this area, the ladies of the night, the tattooists etc. Union Street was rough but also had a lot of character then, now there is little left of the original. I remember all these events with affection.
Photographs taken from 1970 to 2010. (Save the Palace)
The cover shots were taken in 1971 and 2009
